On October 18, 2024, with the support of the NJCVC, attorney John D. Coyle of Coyle & Morris, LLP, filed a lawsuit on behalf of Nurse, Alexandra Clark, alleging blatant religious discrimination by Saint Clare’s Hospital.
The lawsuit stems from Saint Clare’s Hospital’s abrupt decision in September 2024 to stop accepting religious exemption requests from employees, compelling staff to choose between violating their deeply held beliefs or facing termination. This policy change has raised significant concerns about the protection of religious rights in the workplace.
“Nurses like Alexandra Clark should not have to choose between their faith and their profession,” said John D. Coyle. “This case underscores the importance of upholding religious freedoms in our healthcare system.”
The lawsuit seeks to address the unjust treatment of employees who exercise their right to religious expression and aims to hold Saint Clare’s Hospital accountable for its discriminatory practices.
The NJCVC stands firm in its commitment to protecting and promoting vaccination choice and will continue to advocate for those facing discrimination in the workplace.
